Delivering a radio programme is no longer enough – if you want it to be picked up on social media, radio producers are increasingly being asked to supply video.video course action

This hands-on course will introduce you to basic video techniques and cover the fundamentals of TV - from making short one-take videos on a smartphone and appearing on camera - to filming interviews with professional equipment and producing slideshows.

Led by Richard Hollingham from Boffin Media, a radio producer with extensive TV experience, and with specialist input from a video editor, this practical course will include:

  • The differences between radio and video with examples
  • Fundamentals of video, including framing shots, lighting, sound, appearance, editorial considerations and what works in the edit (unfortunately, we will not be able to cover how to edit)
  • The opportunity to use professional TV equipment, a GoPro camera and iPhone apps/tripods and gimbal
